Mid­way Inde­pen­dent School District

Mid­way Inde­pen­dent School Dis­trict pro­vides edu­ca­tion to Hewitt res­i­dents. They offer excel­lent and com­pet­i­tive edu­ca­tional, ath­letic and fine arts pro­grams at all lev­els. Due to Midway’s ded­i­cated teach­ers, staff, cutting-edge cur­ric­ula and sup­port­ive com­mu­nity, the dis­trict is one of the most sought-after dis­tricts in the Cen­tral Texas area.

Higher Edu­ca­tion

McLen­nan Com­mu­nity Col­lege, a pub­lic two-year com­mu­nity col­lege, pro­vides a vari­ety of edu­ca­tion for McLen­nan County res­i­dents. MCC offers two-year asso­ciates degrees for stu­dents who want to trans­fer to a four-year school and train­ing pro­grams for stu­dents who want to enter the workforce.

Through the Uni­ver­sity Cen­ter at MCC, stu­dents can earn afford­able bachelor’s, master’s and doc­toral degrees from four-year state uni­ver­si­ties that offer their degree pro­grams on MCC’s cam­pus. MCC has an aver­age of 9,000 stu­dents enrolled per semester.

Texas State Tech­ni­cal Col­lege Waco (TSTC) offers asso­ciates degrees, cer­tifi­cate pro­grams and work­force edu­ca­tion and train­ing. TSTC is one of the largest res­i­den­tial two-year col­leges in the nation.

Bay­lor Uni­ver­sity, in Waco, is the largest Bap­tist uni­ver­sity in the world and the old­est insti­tu­tion of higher learn­ing in con­tin­u­ous oper­a­tion in Texas. The school offers bac­calau­re­ate pro­grams, master’s degree pro­grams, doc­toral pro­grams as well as mul­ti­ple pro­fes­sional pro­grams and min­istry pro­grams. Upon grad­u­a­tion, many Bay­lor grad­u­ates choose to make their home in Waco and the sur­round­ing com­mu­ni­ties, such as Hewitt.
